Strategic supplies cullet to North America’s largest fiberglass manufacturers. Most manufacturers have worked with Strategic Materials and its predecessor companies in excess of 15 years. Strategic Materials has led the industry in providing high-quality cullet to the fiberglass industry. As a result, the Company has developed strong relationships with its fiberglass customers. The Company pioneered the use of mixed Curbside Container glass by the fiberglass industry. During fiberglass production, raw batch materials and glass cullet are continuously added to the furnace. After melting and “fining,” the molten glass is spun into fibers by a process called fiberizing. To ensure production of consistent fibers, cullet must meet specifications for major and minor oxide chemical composition, color consistency, and contaminant levels. Based on the environmental benefits, the EPA recommends that fiberglass contains 20-25% cullet and some states, such as California, mandate that a certain percentage be used. As a result, the Fiberglass industry has used significant quantities of Cullet to manufacture their products.
