YOUR SINGLE SOURCE SUPPLIER OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY GLASS CUTLET AND SPECIALTY POWDERS.
Since 1896, Strategic Materials, Inc., has been the leader in glass processing and today we process over one and two million tons of glass each year. Soda lime, borosilicate, E Glass and other types of glass are processed for a wide variety of customer needs. Strategic Materials manufactures products from virgin glass as well as from post-industrial and post consumer sources. Glass is ground to meet a wide range of customer requirements from 5/8” fragments to very fine powders.
Post-consumer glass, after extensive processing, is used by the container and fiberglass industries as a vital raw material. Our specialty ground glass products are used by customers as abrasives, beads for reflective highway striping, frictionators for bullets and matches, grit for dental products, and as flux for steel and aluminum mills. Strategic Materials’ customers also use our specialty products in foundry cores, in refractory products, and as ingredients in ceramic floor tiles, bricks and pots. Additionally, glass powders make excellent specialized fillers for paint, stucco and plastic products.
Strategic Materials has revolutionized the post-consumer cullet industry by implementing a continuous quality improvement program, based on ongoing samples and measurement of every batch. The powered glass division has led the way by meeting or exceeding the quality and distribution standards of our customers in all our many specialty glass product segments.

ABRASIVES
Strategic Materials sells ground glass to the abrasive industry to the abrasive industry under the name “WhiteBlast.” Glass is an ideal abrasive since it is competitively priced, leaves good profiles, has high performance results, and provides superior worker safety, Glass has no free silica and will not cause silicosis.
CONTAINER
Strategic Materials is the largest supplier of cullet to the container industry. Cullet offers many advantages over other raw materials used in container manufacturing. Its lower melting point requires less energy, prolongs furnace life, increases throughput, and can reduce emissions.
FIBERGLASS
Use of cullet by fiberglass manufacturers continues to rise each year. Cullet’s advantages include energy savings, prolonged furnace life and higher melting capacity. Industry standards for product quality and consistency are extremely high. The nation’s largest supplier of glass cullet to fiberglass manufacturers is, of course, Strategic Materials.
BEAD
Strategic Materials supplies a majority of the bead industry’s demand for cullet. Cullet offers a more cost-effective alternative to virgin glass in bead manufacturing. Once the cullet has been melted into rounded glass pellets, the resulting beads are sold for use in reflective paints for highway striping, as well as for use in peening and cleaning metals.
ADDITIVE
Strategic Materials’ glass powders make excellent lubricants, core additives and fluxes in metal foundry work and fabrication. These powders provide product purity, predictable melting characteristics, and substantial cost savings.
CERAMIC
Since glass softens at lower temperatures than natural mineral fluxes, using Strategic Materials’ glass powder as a flux/binder can mean substantial energy savings for our customers in the ceramics industry.
FRICTIONATOR
Glass is the material of choice for match and ammunition manufacturers to create the friction necessary for lighting and firing. Strategic Materials’ grinding process ensures a consistent size of product which, in turn, provides consistent hardness for friction.
